Young Lady R's Amazing Phonics Reader Achievement

As an educator, if it's your responsibility to support a student in stepping up from a beginner in English to match up with a grade 2 level student in International school, that already sounds challenging 'coz you have to do a 3 years job in lesser time. But we had a very clear and long term learning plan laid down for her and made sure we had the support of her mom. 

Our Young Lady R's achievements came after only a year of foundation courses but because she was 7 years old and not 4 years old, her time spent on picking up new theory & lessons was not long but the challenge and time spent was more to help her put all those theories to practise. We very often under estimate the importance of actually using the skills we learn and acquire through practice and getting on with the real action. Here at Amaze English School, we give a lot of importance to the practical side of learning 'coz we believe 'practise makes perfect'! 

One other success factor for Young Lady R was the love for reading that we planted in her from the start and encouraged it throughout her learning process and progress. We guided her & her mom on each step of reading from phase 1 to phase 4 'coz the approach and extent of involvement from parents is different in each step. 

Young Lady R ended up reading hundreds of books borrowed from Amaze library and her International school library within the past one year. When we saw what her home room teacher wrote about her love for reading, we couldn't help but smile with pride that our student is now a shining star.

She has borrowed over a hundreds books to read at home and has completed all of the activities that go with them. She now reads fluently and with good understanding."
